Looking for the perfect weekend getaway from the hustle of Chennai? A road trip to Chikmagalur—the coffee land of Karnataka—might just be the answer. From freezing mountain peaks and rugged jeep rides to ancient temples and serene lakes, here is how we spent an unforgettable three days. Day 1: The Midnight Drive & Serene Lakes Our journey began at 25 June 2026 11:00 PM on Friday as the four of us packed into the car and left Chennai behind. By 12:30 AM, we were making our first stop for a quick tea break at Kancheepuram. The initial leg of the trip tested our patience with heavy bumper-to-bumper traffic all the way until the Pallikonda toll plaza. However, choosing the Hoskote route paid off beautifully. It treated us to a short, scenic ghat road, and once we hit the express highway, we were finally able to cruise at a great pace. We are going to explore A Hill Station Heaven,  Misty Mornings & Verdant View, Unravel the Hills, Nature's Canvas Ooty & Valparai Hidden Gems Route we have chosen Coimbatore -> Coonoor -> Ooty -> Kothagiri -> Metupalayam -> Pollachi -> Valaparai -> Athirapally -> Trissur -> Palakkad -> Coimbatore Day 1  All of us from different parts arrived at Coimbatore morning. Had some Tamilnadu style breakfast with Pongal, Vada etc., and did get a vehicle to kick off our Journey. Conoor katary park  We had terrible sunny experience till here around 3PM had some snacks and continued our Journey Around 4.30PM weather changed drastically , we had 0 visibility across the road. Full of Fog and Mist. So due to huge mist, we lost the beautiful view points, it whitewashed all the Greeny views of Dolphin nose View Point & Lambs rock View point.
