Some say MIT, Oxford, Harvard
Some of the People say IIT's, IIM's

We cannot disagree that of course,Because today/s education terms and standards have been changed.

Any one us will agree that India has the World's Best University?

Probably most of us,

Say Noo.

But infact Yes, We had the World's Best University and First University in the World.

Students from  Babylonia, Greece, Syria, Arabia, Phoenicia and China came to study here

Its none other than

Takshashila University

It is present at North west part of India, in Present Day map it is in Pakistan
It is also told as One of the main tourist Spot of Pakistan.

we are familiar with Name Bharatha, from where our Nation India name derives earlier

The Son of Bhartha is Takshan, and in The Epics Ramayana and Mahabharatha this Takshashila name will be used often for education

But by the time it came to light was 2,800 years ago,  800BCE, At that time it was captured by Cyrus I and  Darius III from Persia

In 317 BC, Chandra Gupta Muarya took control over Takshashila by Defeating Greeks
Chandragupta Maurya, is also said to have been a professor teaching in Takshashila

Vedas, Language, Grammar, Philosophy, Medicine, Surgery, Archery, Politics, Warfare, Astronomy,
Astrology, Accounts, Commerce, Futurology, Documentation, Music, Dance, etc have been taught here

Like all our Present colleges and universities, it also has
Takshashila was largely a hub for post-graduate studies.
Students had to complete their primary and secondary education elsewhere before being admitted to Takshashila.

Takshashila had no structured syllabus or mode of instruction.
Several great teachers taught large numbers of students here.
One could attend the classroom of any teacher he wished to learn from

The students never had to pay any fees
As a result of this policy, even the poor could learn from great masters if they were capable.

When Alexander’s armies came to the Punjab in the fourth century B.C., Takshashila had already developed a reputation as an important seat of learning.
Thus on his return Alexander took many scholars from there with him to Greece.

Kautilya (also called Chanakya), the influential Prime Minister of the founder of the Mauryan Empire,

Author of the political treatise Arthashastra

Charaka “Indian father of Medicine” .

Vishnu Sharma’s who wrote Panchatantra  tales

Panini, father of linguistics  who is mainly responsible for the development of the most scientific language in this world Sanskrit

All these great persons, which are well known even today are the students of this Great University.

Now we can say easily that Indian Universities are the best, where rest of the world doesnt even know what University means

But as days passed,Takshashila had to face the brunt of attacks and invasions from the north and the west.
Thus the Persians, Greeks, Parthians, Shakas and Kushanas laid their destructive marks on this institution. The final blow, however,
came from the Huns (also the destroyers of the Roman Empire) who, A.D. c.450, razed the institution
