Meaning of 1.2L, 1.4L, 1.6L,engine in a car?

Image
In a car, which has a multi(4/6/8) cylinder engine, the above nomenclature viz. 1.6L,1.4L, etc. refers to the combined volume capacity of all the cylinders( expressed in cubic centimeters, 1L=1000 cc).  Here volume capacity refers to the swept volume or displacement volume or breathing capacity of the cylinder. It is basically the volume of air that can be sucked insde the cylinder as the stroke moves from TDC to BDC. Swept Volume,  V= pi/4*d^2*L*K   , where                                            d- Bore, L-Stroke,  K-no. of cylinders. This is the common terminology used to specify the engine size. A 1.2L engine means a 1.2 litre engine, which is equal to 1200cc (cc = cubic capacity).  Hope that explains it! Pros/Cons: Usually, hig...

Scientists have observed a planet forming for the first time ever

Image
For the first time, scientists have observed a planet being formed and have captured images of dust and gas particles accumulating together to make a protoplanet in a distant solar system. Researchers from the US and Australia observed the phenomenon taking place in the solar system surrounding a star called LkCa 15, located 450 light-years away from Earth. Catching a planet in the making is an exciting first for astronomers because, of the nearly 2,000 exoplanets we’ve so far identified, none are in the process of formation.   to watch in you tube....click here   source  click here

Li-Fi technology is 100 times faster than Wi-Fi

Image
A new technology called Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) promises connections up to 100 times faster than Wi-Fi. According to researchers, the new alternative technology transmits high-speed data using visible light communication, which would reach speeds of 1 Gbps, which is about 100 times faster than a standard WiFi. Created in 2011, the transmission via Li-Fi is made using LED lights, which flicker on and off so fast that it is completely imperceptible to the human eye. Li-Fi could, ofr example, allow users to download an HD movie in a few seconds.  source click here
