NASA records mysterious sounds 36 km above Earth's surface

Image
Click to Hear The sound was recorded by a UNC Chapel Hill payload aboard a high altitude balloon. The balloon was commissioned by Louisiana State University's High Altitude Student Platform (HASP) program and flew to an altitude of ~22 miles in 2014   A NASA high-altitude balloon experiment run by graduate students in the US has captured some unexplained and strangely complex sounds at 36 km (22 miles) above the surface of Earth. Known as atmospheric infrasound, these sound waves dip below frequencies of 20 hertz, which is beyond the range of human hearing.

Plane will be able to fly anywhere in the world within 4 hours

Image
This plane will be able to fly anywhere in the world within 4 hours The engine will be able to fly in outer space too. British aerospace firm Reaction Engines Limited is working on an engine system that will be able to take 300 passengers anywhere in the world in just four hours. Even more impressively, the engine will also be used to fly a plane in outer space, as Business Insider reports. The engine system is called SABRE, and it relies on a device called the precooler - technology that cools down the air entering the engineer system by more than 1,000 degrees Celsius in .01 seconds. That corresponds to an unheard-of cooling rate of 400 megawatts, and will allow the plane to “breathe” oxygen.   British aerospace firm Reaction Engines Limited is working on an engine system that will be able to take 300 passengers anywhere in the world in just four hours. Fins in Liquid Cooled Engines

Image
Bajaj Avenger is liquid cooled and contain fins.  the fins again may decrease its heat transfer rate and all Avenger has fins and it is both air and liquid cooled According to fins theory ,  i actually couldnt understand what will happen if fins are present in liquid cooled engines...and why avenger is having fins while rest of liquid cooled  bikes doesnt have... any body knws ...comment it

Nitrox suspension - Gas charged suspensions

Image
The advantages of using a Nitrox suspension - Gas charged suspensions. The rear shock absorbers on current Bajaj Pulsar series bikes are also popularly known as NITROX shock absorbers . These types of shock absorbers are actually called as ‘Gas Filled Shock Absorbers’. The visual differentiation between a conventional shock absorber and a gas filled shock absorber is a small canister (box) which is attached on one side of it. This canister holds a small amount of Nitrogen gas in it. Hence these hydraulic shock absorbers or dampers are called as gas filled shock absorbers. So what is the reason to use a gas filled hydraulic dampers instead of using a conventional one? we'll find out the answer here. The 'Royal Enfield - Bullet Electra' was the first bike in India to have this feature. The Pulsar 150/180 UG II (2’nd upgrade) then became the second model (and the first in the 150 cc and above category) to make this feature available on Indian bikes. A ...

How Igloos Work

Image
Recommended tools: Snow saw or large knife Snow shovel or snow spade A couple pairs of waterproof gloves Find an area with a lot of dry, hard-packed snow. Use the snow saw or knife to cut large blocks -- the harder the snow is, the more solid the snow blocks will be. Your snow blocks should be about 3 feet long, 15 inches high and 8 inches deep, according to "The Complete Wilderness Training Guide." Smooth the edges of the blocks. Place them in a circle, working your way up. Blocks should decrease in size as you work upwards. Using your shovel or saw, cut a hole under the wall to create the igloo's entrance. Overlap the blocks and shape them to lean inward, creating the dome. The blocks should support each other in order to prevent the dome from collapsing. If necessary, use a stick or other support in the interior to support the blocks at the top until the dome is finished. Once all the blocks except the las...
